![]() Why did the original owner label it a "Custom Special"? Also, with the Hewitt branded and tapered model being somewhat scarce, what would the value be in today's market? Depending on water conditions in Montana, it may stay in my luggage until I can rack up more experience on my local spring creeks. My questions are- Could these jasper wraps be original? I did alot of searches on this site and have only found one other Leonard with these wraps and it looked like a rewrap. The other bonus is an older, mint Hardy Perfect 3 1/8" reel to go along with it. I also have multiple letters of correspondence with Mills letting the customer know when he could expect delivery of his rod. The original owner scribed some info on the tube. I have not casted it, but it is a great feeling rod and I am going to take it to Montana in two weeks. This rod is in such good condition, that I cannot tell if it has been rewrapped. The second and most interesting, is my Leonard 50 Hewitt with equal sections, jasper wraps and ring guides. The first rod is a Hardy Marvel, which I did not include pics of because most everybody is familiar with them and knows what they look like. Thankfully, I have a couple of friends that can guide me in the care and handling of these classic masterpieces. After 34 years of fly fishing and scoffing cane, I have finally acquired two beautiful rods and would like to give it a try. ![]()
